BioWare’s action-packed role-playing game (RPG) Dragon Age: The Veilguard is being made available for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers. The game, which was released just weeks ago, will be added to the service’s library of free games starting March 4.
The move comes after EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated that the game “did not resonate with a broad enough audience” in an earnings call earlier this month. Despite its positive reviews from critics and players alike, the game underperformed, according to EA’s chief financial officer, Stuart Canfield.
By making the game available for free to PS Plus subscribers, BioWare is hoping to introduce it to a wider audience and potentially change opinions about its commercial performance. The game was praised in our review, which described it as “an approachable, expansive action-oriented RPG that feels like a true conclusion to the Dragon Age series.”
Other games will also be added to the PS Plus service on March 4, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection and Sonic Colors: Ultimate. Subscribers will have until March 31 to claim these titles before they are removed from the library.
