A tragic accident occurred on January 29 when an American Airlines flight, carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, collided with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport. The plane, operated by PSA Airlines, crashed into the Potomac River.
The incident initially began as a rescue mission but turned into a recovery operation after all 67 people on board were confirmed dead. Officials expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and committed to supporting them during this difficult time.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation, which revealed data from air traffic control showed the helicopter was above its allowed ceiling at 300 feet when it collided with the plane. The NTSB is still gathering information but has confirmed that all those on board are deceased.
