Google has made it easier for users to remove their personal information from search results. The “Results about you” tool, introduced years ago, now allows users to request removal directly from the Google Search interface.
To remove your personal information, follow these steps:
1. Click on a result that contains your personal info.
2. Next to the result, click the three dots and select “Remove result.”
3. Choose why you want the result removed (e.g., it shows your personal info and you don’t want it there).
4. Google will review the request if it violates their policy.
The tool also offers options to remove other types of content, such as phishing or explicit material, and to refresh outdated search results. Additionally, users can sign up for proactive monitoring from Results about you, which notifies them when their personal info appears online.
This change aims to reduce online scams using personal information, making it easier for users to control what’s visible on Google Search.
