Microsoft is investigating an issue with its Microsoft 365 service and Teams app, causing problems for users accessing Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams calendar functionality. The problem appears to be affecting Microsoft users globally.
The outage began at around 4 a.m. Eastern Time, with reports of issues rising from about 2,000 to as many as 5,000 by noon. Users are experiencing difficulties connecting to the company’s services, including Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams. Some have reported problems sending emails and accessing their documents.
Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and stated that it is working on a solution to fix the problem. The company deployed a patch to roughly 98% of affected environments but admitted to facing delays in restoring services. Users are frustrated, with one user stating that the outage is “heaven help” for businesses relying on the service.
This outage comes after a massive disruption in July, when Microsoft’s internal systems were affected by global cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike’s technical problem. The incident led to thousands of flights and train services being canceled globally and sparked numerous lawsuits.
