Pokémon fans are celebrating another exciting year with Pokémon Day on February 27th, marking the anniversary of the popular franchise’s birth. The Pokémon Company used this special day to announce several highly anticipated projects and updates.
Firstly, fans were treated to news about Pokémon Legends Z-A, a new installment in the Pokémon Legends spin-off series. Taking place in Lumiose, a city in the Kalos Region, the game is set to release in late 2025. Key features include a new combat style, allowing players to move around with their character and Pokémon, dodging attacks. The catching system from Arceus and Scarlet & Violet returns, enabling easy netting of Pokémon even without fighting them first.
Another surprise announcement was the development of Pokémon Champions, a multiplayer game for Switch, iOS, and Android. Focused on Pokémon battles and compatible with Pokémon HOME, players can connect their monsters stored in the app. However, no release date has been announced yet.
In other exciting news, several updates were revealed for existing games. Season 2 of Pokémon Concierge is set to arrive on Netflix in September 2025, while a new Pokémon GO promo code (GOTOURUNOVA) was made available for redemption as part of the upcoming GO Tour: Unova event. Pokémon Masters EX will celebrate five and a half years with a log-in bonus, while Pokémon Sleep is getting a Cresselia vs. Darkrai event soon.
Additionally, new content was announced for other games. A new Pokémon UNITE gift code (POKEDAY) is available for redemption, featuring Suicune, Alolan Raichu, and Alcremie joining the game over the coming months. The Pokémon TCG will receive Mega Evolutions in 2025, including Mega ex cards. New codes are also available for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
Lastly, The Pokémon Company announced that Latin American Spanish will be added to its supported languages for upcoming games and products, expanding accessibility for fans worldwide.
