GSA Orders Termination of $65 Billion in Federal Consulting Contracts

The US General Services Administration (GSA) has instructed federal agencies to terminate contracts with the top 10 highest-paid consulting firms, citing a need to eliminate non-essential spending and increase efficiency. The memo, issued by Acting Administrator Stephen Ehikian, aims to reduce waste and align spending with government goals.

According to the GSA, these top contractors include Deloitte Consulting LLP, Accenture Federal Services LLC, General Dynamics IT, Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, Guidehouse, Hill Mission Technologies Corp., Science Applications International Corp., CGI Federal, and IBM. Agencies must submit a list of contracts with these firms by March 7, with accompanying explanations for those deemed mission-critical.

The move follows the GSA’s previous review of targeted contractor contracts, which resulted in the termination of non-essential agreements. However, Ehikian argues that more action is needed to achieve desired outcomes.
