Samsung has been working on its next-generation foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and recent leaks suggest a significant design change. The upcoming device will boast an ultra-thin profile, measuring 4.5mm when unfolded and 9.5mm when folded, according to leaked images and specs.
Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which measures 5.6mm when unfolded and 12.1mm when folded, the new design will result in a much thinner overall size. To achieve this, Samsung has made both screens larger, with an estimated 8.2-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch inner display.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 would feature the largest inner screen of any foldable on the market, surpassing even the current record holder, the OPPO Find N5, which has an 8.12-inch display. However, this alone won’t make it the thinnest book-style foldable, with the OPPO N5 still holding that title at 4.2mm.
The leaked specs also suggest a seven-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a 4,400mAh battery, which could provide significant improvements in performance and battery life compared to older Galaxy foldables. A launch date for the Z Fold 7 is expected sometime in mid-July.
