SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket carrying 21 Starlink internet satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 9:24 p.m. EST on March 2, 2025.
The launch was part of the Starlink 12-20 mission, which marks the fifth flight for the first-stage booster that previously launched several high-profile missions, including GOES-U and two previous Starlink launches.
After liftoff, the rocket’s first-stage booster successfully landed on the SpaceX drone ship Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean. The second stage continued into space with its 21 Starlink satellites on board.
SpaceX is targeting another launch on early Wednesday morning for a new Starlink mission. If successful, it will mark the company’s eighth consecutive day of launches.
The launch was expected to proceed without any delays or postponements, and all necessary preparations were in place at Launch Complex 40. The space force’s weather squadron predicted a 90% chance of “go for launch” conditions, with only slim meteorological threats during the launch window.
This marks another milestone for SpaceX as it continues to push forward with its ambitious plans to provide internet access to underserved communities around the world through its Starlink constellation.
