Wild Coast Raw Recalls Chicken Formula Pet Food Due to Bird Flu Risk

A voluntary recall has been issued for Wild Coast Raw’s Boneless Free Range Chicken Formula raw pet food due to a potential health risk from bird flu. The company, based in Olympia, WA, is recalling specific lots of the product because they may be contaminated with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) H5N1.

The affected products were distributed to retailers in Washington State and Oregon, and are identified by a small round white plastic container with a green label. Affected lots include #22660, #22653, #22641, #22639, #22672, and #22664, which have a Best Buy date of 12/25.

If your pet has been fed the recalled product, monitor for symptoms of bird flu, including fever, lethargy, low appetite, and respiratory issues. If you or your pet exhibit these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately.

While no human infections have been identified, people handling raw pet food products can become infected if they come into contact with the virus. To minimize risk, wash hands thoroughly after handling the product and sanitize surfaces that may be contaminated.

Consumers are urged to discard the recalled product securely, prevent animals from consuming it, and receive a full refund by contacting their place of purchase or Wild Coast Raw directly at (360) 591-3543 or [email protected].
