Several Arab states and the UN have condemned Israel for blocking all humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, citing a ceasefire deal violation. Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have expressed strong opposition to the move, which they describe as “a clear violation of international humanitarian law.” The Israeli government claims that Hamas is stealing supplies and using them to finance its terror machine.
Hamas has denied these allegations, calling the blockade “cheap blackmail” and a “coup” against the ceasefire agreement. The UN’s Tom Fletcher described the move as “alarming,” emphasizing that international humanitarian law allows for access to deliver vital lifesaving aid.
The Gaza Strip was supposed to enter a new phase of the ceasefire deal after the first six-week period, but negotiations have barely begun. Israel had agreed to continue the ceasefire during this period, with plans to release half of all remaining hostages. However, no aid trucks were allowed into Gaza on Sunday morning, leaving humanitarian agencies concerned about the impact on civilians.
Medics reported four fatalities in Israeli strikes on Gaza, while the Israeli military claimed to have targeted people planting an explosive device. The situation remains tense, with thousands of lives at risk due to the lack of essential supplies.
