Alex Palou Wins Firestone Grand Prix in Thrilling St. Pete Debut

The 2025 INDYCAR SERIES kicked off the new era with the Firestone Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, and Alex Palou stole the show. The Spanish driver led 26 laps and took the win after a thrilling finale.

Scott Dixon finished second, despite leading five of the 100-lap race without any communication with his pit crew. Josef Newgarden secured third place, followed by Scott McLaughlin in fourth and Kyle Kirkwood in fifth.

The early going saw Scott McLaughlin dominate, but he relinquished the lead after a pair of pit stops. Meanwhile, Colton Herta struggled with issues changing tires, eventually finishing 18th.

A caution flag was thrown just seconds into the race due to an accident involving Nolan Siegel and Louis Foster. The drivers involved were medically released without major incident.

Palou’s victory marked his first win in INDYCAR and a promising start to the new campaign.
