GSC Game World has released the first post-launch patch for its open-world first-person shooter Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, addressing over 650 issues that plagued the game at launch. The 14GB update fixes numerous problems, including crashes, quest blockers, and combat balance issues.
According to the developer, Patch 1.01 tackles everything from bug fixes to progression blockers, with a focus on improving gameplay experience. Some notable changes include increased dead zones for gamepad controllers, resolving AI-related issues such as groups of NPCs getting stuck, and reducing memory leak problems that caused crashes.
The patch also addresses combat balance, increasing armor durability by 12.5% and reducing the cost to repair equipment. Menacing enemies like Bloodsuckers have had their HP regeneration outside of combat turned down, making them more vulnerable to gun damage.
While the update is significant, GSC Game World emphasizes that it’s not the final patch, as work on A-Life bugs and future patches continues. The developer encourages players to stay tuned for further updates and fine-tuning.
A total of over 100 crashes have been fixed, with approximately 120 other issues resolved in main missions, side quests, and encounters. The update includes fixes for specific mission blockers and adds tweaks to numerous missions.
Players can now expect a smoother gaming experience, with improvements to camera stability, combat performance, and overall gameplay. With the patch, GSC Game World takes a step towards resolving some of the game’s most pressing issues, setting the stage for future updates and improvements.
