The Pokémon Company has announced a new PvP experience called Pokémon Champions, set to bring head-to-head arena battles to Nintendo Switch and smartphones worldwide. The game is focused on classic Pokémon battles from core games, featuring Gen 1 pocket monsters alongside modern-day cohort. According to COO Takato Utsonomiya, the competitive multiplayer experience will allow players to pit their skills against others globally.
Pokémon Champions has not yet released a confirmed date but is currently in development. Platforms include Nintendo Switch and mobile devices like iOS and Android. The game’s gameplay trailer showcases an immersive battle experience with large arenas and spectacular effects.
Developed by The Pokémon Works, the studio behind Pokémon Sleep, and supported by mainline franchise developer Game Freak, Pokémon Champions aims to deliver a confluence of PvP online experience while maintaining its connection to the broader Pokémon universe.
The announcement comes alongside Pokémon Legends Z-A, set for release in late 2025. Fans are now eagerly anticipating the full details of Pokémon Champions.
