Gene Hackman’s family has finally broken their silence on the sudden deaths of the late actor and his wife, Betsy Arakawa. Elizabeth Jean Hackman, Gene’s middle child, shared her suspicions with TMZ about the cause of death, stating that the family thinks carbon monoxide might be to blame.
Law enforcement found no evidence of foul play during their investigation, but Sheriff Adan Mendoza has not ruled anything out yet. The couple’s neighbors had reported them missing after finding them dead in their Santa Fe home.
Gene is survived by his children and granddaughter, who have released a statement expressing their sadness and grief over the loss. They remembered Gene as “Dad and Grandpa” to them, highlighting his importance beyond his acting career.
