Xiaomi 15 Ultra Review: Leica-Powered Camera Marvel

Xiaomi has unveiled its new flagship smartphone series, the 15 Ultra, touting its partnership with renowned camera manufacturer Leica as a key selling point. The device boasts an impressive array of cameras, including a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

The phone’s camera capabilities have been extensively reviewed, with Xiaomi claiming that the new model can take in double the light of its predecessor for better low-light performance. The camera module also features a Leica-designed Summilux lens with a f/1.63 aperture and 14EV of dynamic range. However, some users may miss the variable aperture from the previous model.

In terms of video recording, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra supports Dolby Vision on all rear cameras and adds support for 4K at 120fps. The phone also features optical image stabilization (OIS) and enhanced audio capabilities with Snapdragon Sound built-in.

The device’s software suite is centered around HyperOS 2, which includes AI-powered editing features within the Gallery app. Xiaomi has also highlighted its Cross-device Camera feature, allowing users to access another device’s camera while retaining the phone’s imaging pipeline.

Pricing for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra starts at €1,499 (approximately $1,550 USD), with the smaller Xiaomi 15 available at a lower price point of €999 (around $1,030 USD). The devices will be available in various countries but may not be sold through retailers in Canada and the U.S.
