Samsung Unveils Futuristic Folding Phone Concepts and More

Samsung Display showcased several innovative concepts at MWC 2025 that pushed the boundaries of display technology. Among them was a candybar-style phone with two folding screens, which reminded me of a crab claw closing in on itself. The design posed durability concerns, but its unique look made it stand out.

The company also introduced a Flexible Cabinbag, a slim metal briefcase with an 18.1-inch flexible OLED screen that folds open to reveal a display area. This concept felt like something from a futuristic salesperson’s toolkit.

Additionally, Samsung Display revealed a folding games console, which closed up like a book and offered a smaller footprint compared to traditional consoles. The design included small holes for the joysticks when folded shut.

Lastly, a clamshell-style phone with a polygon-shaped screen on the front caught my eye, evoking memories of early 2000s flip phones. These concepts showcase Samsung Display’s commitment to pushing display technology forward and exploring unconventional designs that could shape the future of smartphones.

While it’s uncertain whether these ideas will become reality, they demonstrate the innovative possibilities of flexible and bendy screen technologies.
