Andrew Garfield Praises Goldie Hawn at Oscars After ‘Reveal’ About Eye Condition

British actor jumped in to assist Hollywood star after claiming she had cataracts.
At the 2025 Oscars ceremony, British actor Andrew Garfield was praised for his quick thinking after assisting Hollywood star Goldie Hawn on stage. The moment came during her presentation of two awards alongside Garfield. Hawn initially claimed she couldn’t see what was on the screen and asked Garfield to step in. However, it’s believed she was joking about having cataracts, as she was able to read parts of the autocue at the start and end of her appearance.

The incident followed an emotional moment earlier in the ceremony when Garfield thanked Hawn for bringing happiness to his mother during her life. Hawn had died in 2019, and Garfield expressed his gratitude to her from the heart. This year’s Oscars race was highly competitive, with Anora emerging as the big winner, taking home five trophies, including Best Picture.

The ceremony saw various notable moments, including an acceptance speech by Adrien Brody that was criticized for being “indulgent.” Meanwhile, Conan O’Brien hosted a ceremony marked by jokes about several controversies and a tribute to Bond.
