Rockstar has acquired Video Games Deluxe, the developer of the re-released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, and renamed it Rockstar Australia. This move comes ahead of the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 in fall 2025.
Video Games Deluxe has a history of working with Rockstar on several projects, including previous re-releases of L.A. Noire games. The studio was previously known for its work on upgrades to the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy remaster for mobile and streaming platforms.
In contrast, Grove Street Games faced criticism for the poor quality of the original Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition in 2021. The controversy surrounding the game’s credits led to allegations that Video Games Deluxe was removed from the credits after a recent update.
Rockstar Games Head of Publishing, Jennifer Kolbe, welcomed Video Games Deluxe into the team, stating they are “excited” to have them on board. Brendan McNamara, founder of Team Bondi and creator of L.A. Noire, expressed his gratitude for working with Rockstar over the years and commitment to making high-quality games.
The establishment of Rockstar Australia precedes Grand Theft Auto 6’s release in fall 2025, marking a significant milestone in the gaming industry.
