Trump’s Tariffs Boost Inflation Concerns

President Donald Trump’s talk of new tariffs is raising inflation concerns, with the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) finding that customers are pausing on new orders due to rising costs.

The manufacturing index, a closely followed measure of the US economy, jumped to 50.3% in February, its highest level in over two and a half years. This represents just a slight increase from the previous month’s reading.

The increase is linked to President Trump’s recent tariff talk, which has led to concerns about the impact on inflation. Suppliers are reporting a surge in costs, with prices rising by more than 2½ years’ worth in response to new or threatened tariffs.
