Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor at the 97th annual Academy Awards for his role in A Real Pain, beating out Jeremy Strong, a fellow Succession costar. However, it was revealed that video footage obtained by Deadline shows Culkin dropping an F-bomb during his acceptance speech, which was censored for home viewers.
During his speech, Culkin praised Strong’s performance as Roy Cohn in The Apprentice, saying “He’s right, by the way. Jeremy, you’re amazing in The Apprentice… I love your work. It’s f—ing great.” He then briefly covered his mouth before continuing to thank others involved in the film and expressing his plans with wife Jazz Charton.
The couple had previously made a bet that if Culkin won an Oscar, they would have more children. When asked about this during his speech, Culkin jokingly said he only wanted four kids, despite already having two.
