The Houston Astros have announced that infielder Jose Altuve will play a “majority” of his games in left field this season. Manager Joe Espada made the announcement on Monday, stating that the plan is for Altuve to fill the outfield spot, with second baseman Yordan Alvarez potentially getting a start in left if needed. This move allows the team to be creative with their lineup and make adjustments as needed. Altuve, 34, has played all but two games of his career at second base and will now take on a new role in the outfield. Other players, including Mauricio Dubon, Brendan Rodgers, and Luis Guillorme, are candidates to fill the void at second base.
