If the referee had ruled it a knockdown, Davis would have faced a point deduction, potentially changing the outcome of the fight.
Davis claimed he took a knee due to grease in his eye, which he said was caused by getting his hair done two days before the fight. The judges ultimately scored the 12-round fight in favor of Davis, but the NYSAC is investigating the incident to ensure the integrity of combat sports.
