Kevin Durant to Suns Trade Scenario: A Contender In the Offseason?

Kevin Durant’s name has resurfaced as a potential trade piece for the Phoenix Suns in the offseason. ESPN’s Shams Charania revealed that Durant and the Suns would likely work together on any potential trade to a contender, with four to six teams expected to have serious involvement.

The Suns need to make changes, but Bradley Beal’s massive contract makes him un-tradable, leaving Devin Booker as the face of the franchise. Durant is still an attractive option, averaging 26.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, despite being 36 years old.

However, putting Durant on the trade block strained his relationship with the Suns, particularly since they had a deal with the Golden State Warriors in place before Durant expressed disinterest in returning to his former team. In an interview, Durant claimed he never planned to leave or get traded from Phoenix.

With the Suns struggling to turn things around and currently sitting in 11th place, three games behind the Dallas Mavericks for the final Play-In Tournament berth, it may be a tall task for them to compete with loaded Western Conference teams. If the Suns can’t improve, Durant may be ready to move on this summer.
