Apple Enables RCS on Google Fi with iOS 18.4 Beta

Apple has released the latest iOS 18.4 beta, which includes support for RCS messaging on Google Fi. This update is a significant improvement for iPhone users on the Google MVNO, who have been waiting since September for this feature to be enabled.

The new iOS 18.4 beta allows Google Fi subscribers to toggle RCS Messaging in Settings > Apps > Messages. The “Waiting for activation…” process may take a moment. However, this update also enables support for MVNOs that use T-Mobile’s network in the US.

Previously, only major US carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon) had RCS messaging enabled when iOS 18 launched in September. With successive point releases, support for other providers has rolled out. Apple is expected to release a stable version of iOS 18.4 in April, with more beta updates and changes expected before then.

Users can join the beta program now to experience these new features firsthand.
