NASA Pushes Launch Date to March 6

NASA has announced a new target launch date for its SPHEREx and PUNCH missions, now set for no earlier than Thursday, March 6. The delay will allow teams to complete vehicle processing and prelaunch checkouts.

The launch window opens at 10:09 p.m. EST from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California’s Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E).

The SPHEREx mission aims to understand the first second after the big bang, while searching for life in our galaxy. The PUNCH mission will observe the Sun’s corona as it transitions into the solar wind.

A prelaunch news briefing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5 at 3:30 p.m., with a live launch broadcast starting at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 6. Media can ask questions via phone during the event. For more information, visit NASA’s website.
