Scientists Create Adorable ‘Mammoth Mouse’

Scientists have genetically engineered a mouse to resemble an extinct mammoth. The goal was to revive a long-gone species, but the result is something unexpected: a small, fluffy creature with dense golden fur.

Colossal Biosciences announced its breakthrough on March 4th, claiming success in engineering Mus musculus to share qualities of Mammuthus primigenius. Unlike mammoths, these mice lack stature and tusks. Instead, they have an abundance of soft, golden fur that has been described as adorable.

The team’s leader, Ben Lamm, notes that the fluffy nature was not intended but is now a welcome surprise.
