Jaguars Trade Christian Kirk to Texans

In a surprise move, the Jacksonville Jaguars are trading wide receiver Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans. The trade, set to become official on Tuesday, will see the Jaguars receive a 2026 seventh-round pick originally belonging to the Los Angeles Rams.

Kirk is heading into his final season of a four-year contract worth $72 million. His departure will save the Jaguars $10.437 million against their salary cap this season. The Texans, meanwhile, are in need of wide receiver help after Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods left free agency, with Tank Dell also dealing with an ACL injury.

Despite only playing eight games last season due to a collarbone fracture, Kirk has shown promise in his time with the Jaguars. In 2022, he started all 17 games and had career highs of 84 receptions for 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns. The Cardinals drafted Kirk out of Texas A&M in 2018, where he spent four seasons before joining the Jaguars.
