Apple’s absence from the foldable phone market has been noticeable, but a recent leak suggests the company might finally enter the fray. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts a premium design for Apple’s debut foldable smartphone, which could be worth the long wait.
The device is expected to feature a titanium alloy material and will have a thickness of 4.5-4.8mm when unfolded. In the folded state, the side profile is estimated to be around 9-9.5mm. The phone’s screen will measure 7.8 inches on the inner foldable panel and 5.5 inches on the external cover.
What’s most exciting about this device is its crease-less foldable screen, a feature that has been elusive for smartphone manufacturers. Kuo also notes that the high-density battery unit used in the iPhone 17 Air will be integrated into the phone.
However, Kuo predicts that Apple will keep the imaging hardware simple, with only two cameras at the back, likely due to space constraints and challenges fitting large camera modules in a slim design. The analyst also suggests that Apple will ditch Face ID for Touch ID fingerprint sensors in the power button, a common feature among flagship phones.
While these specs are subject to change, Kuo expects mass production of the phone to start in late 2026, with a launch expected in late 2027. Pricing is predicted to be around $2,000-2,500, driven by high demand for the device.
