Free agency is already underway in the NFL, with teams making moves across the league. With the window to use franchise and transition tags closed, only a handful of players have received those designations – Tee Higgins (Cincinnati Bengals) and Trey Smith (Kansas City Chiefs). The tampering period started on March 10, with major signings, re-signings, and trades happening every week.
In this tracker, we’ll grade every major move. Starting with Wednesday’s action:
– Christian Kirk was traded to the Texans for a 2026 seventh-round pick. Houston adds slot receiver Kirk, who comes over to replace Tank Dell. While Kirk’s cap charge is significant ($15.5 million), he’s needed after Stefon Diggs’ impending free agency.
Grade: C-
Minnesota extended safety Theo Jackson on a two-year deal worth $12.6 million, keeping him with the team through 2027. This move may address uncertainty in the Vikings’ secondary and give Jackson more playing time.
Grade: B
The Los Angeles Rams re-signed wide receiver Tutu Atwell to a one-year, $10 million deal. While Cooper Kupp and Demarcus Robinson could be headed elsewhere, Atwell’s signing provides a nice third option for the team.
Grade: B-
Las Vegas signed center Maxx Crosby to a three-year extension worth $106 million with $91 million guaranteed. This move keeps the Raiders’ best player in house and maintains Crosby as a pillar for the Pete Carroll regime.
Grade: A
Zack Baun re-signed with the Eagles on a three-year deal worth up to $51 million. Despite general manager Howie Roseman potentially prioritizing edge rusher Josh Sweat, Baun thrived under Vic Fangio and signed a lucrative deal.
Grade: B+
The Chiefs traded left guard Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears for a 2026 fourth-round pick. Kansas City gets younger at the position while taking a risk on second-year man Kingsley Suamataia.
Grade: C+
Bears grade: B
Center Alex Cappa signed with the Raiders on a two-year, $11 million deal. While it’s surprising, given the team’s struggles in blocking last season, the money and terms seem reasonable for a 30-year-old veteran who has started 96 NFL games.
Grade: D
