Firefox has introduced a game-changing feature with its latest version, 136: vertical tabs. This option helps users manage multiple open web pages more efficiently by displaying them in a vertical sidebar on the left or right side of the screen.
By default, vertical tabs appear at the top, but users can reorder them by moving specific tabs to the top or bottom. The feature also allows for easy access to frequently used commands, such as opening a new tab or closing multiple tabs in one shot.
To enable vertical tabs, simply right-click on an empty area of the horizontal tab bar and select “Turn on Vertical Tabs.” Users can customize their experience by clicking the icon at the top of the sidebar and selecting “Collapse Sidebar” to remove names but keep icons visible. Additionally, users can move the sidebar to the right side by checking the box for “Move Sidebar to the Right.”
Vertical tabs are not a new innovation in the browser world; Microsoft Edge has included them since March 2021. However, Firefox’s implementation is user-friendly and allows for quick toggling between vertical and horizontal tab bars.
The latest version of Firefox also introduces several other updates, including improved security features, such as using HTTPS by default and fixing 15 vulnerabilities. Users can update their browser to the new version by clicking on the hamburger icon, selecting Help, and then About Firefox.
