A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has been put under strain after multiple incidents of violence, with at least 11 people killed and three injured in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon. The latest exchange of fire occurred when Hezbollah fired rockets on an Israeli military position in the Shebaa Farms area, claiming it was a “defensive warning strike.”
The US-brokered truce prohibits Israel from conducting offensive military operations in Lebanon but has been repeatedly breached by Israeli forces. Lebanon’s parliament speaker Nabih Berri accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and urged authorities to investigate the incidents. The US State Department confirmed that they are probing reports of truce violations, citing that early ceasefire periods can be fragile but have generally reduced violence.
Israeli officials denied wrongdoing, while accusing Hezbollah of moving weapons in defiance of the agreement. The situation remains volatile as both sides accuse each other of breaches and threaten to escalate further.
