The Texas A&M Aggies (20-2) host the third-ranked Florida Gators (24-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m., marking the beginning of the Southeastern Conference’s opening weekend. The series can be streamed on SEC Network+ with analyst Tori Vidales and play-by-play announcer Will Johnson.
The Aggies boast a strong home record, holding a 149-46 (.764) mark since Davis Diamond’s opening in 2018. Texas A&M is currently ranked No. 4 nationally by the ESPN/USA Softball poll and has posted top attendance marks this season. The team ranks high in multiple categories, including ERA (1.78), strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.86), RBI (149), and scoring (7.45).
In the SEC, Texas A&M has won 11-of-16 series under coach Trisha Ford and finished higher in league standings than preseason picks each year. The team enters conference play with a top pitching staff, allowing the third fewest home runs (5) and striking out the fourth most batters (143). Offensively, the Aggies rank fifth in hits.
A key aspect of Texas A&M’s success this season is its ability to score on two-outs. Nearly 43% of the team’s run production has come during these situations. Freshman KK Dement leads the charge with 10-for-21 hitting with 15 RBI, three home runs, and two doubles. The Aggies have also shown prowess in comeback wins, including sweeping No. 8 Florida State.
For fans, all Aggie softball games can be heard on the 12th Man Mobile app or locally on Willy 1550 AM with Matt Simon as play-by-play voice. More information is available at gameday.12thman.com/softball.
