As a junior at UC Berkeley, I’m used to the chaos of student life, but living with 11 other girls in a shared house has taken it to a whole new level. Our home, built in the early 1900s, is full of character – and quirks. The seven bedrooms share three bathrooms, and we’ve learned to make do with the limited space.
The house is always bustling, especially in the kitchen where all 12 girls converge. Music plays, conversations flow, and a strict cleaning schedule ensures everyone pitches in. Our living room, decorated with student artwork, is the heart of the house – where we host events, watch movies, and hang out on chilly nights.
While it can be crowded, our backyard oasis provides a peaceful escape. With its vibrant decorations, twinkling lights, and BBQs, it’s the perfect spot to unwind. My own bedroom, a former sunroom, is my haven – filled with sunlight and a quiet atmosphere. Despite some minor inconveniences, this strange house has become my home, thanks to the girls who welcomed me into their lives.
