Convicted fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried has opened up about his experience sharing a prison unit with rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs. Bankman-Fried, who is serving 25 years for fraud and other charges related to his cryptocurrency exchange FTX, spoke in an interview posted via X on Thursday.
Bankman-Fried described Diddy as “kind” and praised him for treating fellow inmates with respect. He also acknowledged the unusual circumstances of their shared unit, noting that it’s a place where people from different walks of life come together. Bankman-Fried expressed surprise at how well some of his fellow inmates, including former gang members, perform in chess.
The rapper faces multiple charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, and has pleaded not guilty. His trial is set to begin on May 5. Despite the challenges of prison life, Bankman-Fried maintains a positive outlook, stating that he’s managed to make friends during his time incarcerated.
