King Charles III’s Heartfelt Playlist Revealed

King Charles III has launched a personal playlist of music that lifts his spirits and brings back important memories, including Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, and Grace Jones. The playlist, called the King’s Music Room, is a partnership with Apple Music.

The King was photographed at Buckingham Palace working on the project, which aims to celebrate music from Commonwealth countries. A video trailer shows the changing of the guard playing Marley’s “Could You Be Loved” as part of the project.

In the video launching the project, the King explains that music has meant a great deal to him throughout his life. He says it brings back happy memories, comforts us in times of sadness, and takes us to distant places.

The full playlist will be published on Monday for Commonwealth Day, featuring reggae from Marley, dance music from Minogue, and contributions from Nigerian-American singer-songwriter Davido and British singer-songwriter Raye. The King shares anecdotes about the artists and reveals why the songs are meaningful to him.

This approach is a departure from the traditional Commonwealth Day service in Westminster Abbey. The King hopes it will be an innovative way to celebrate this year’s Commonwealth Day.
