Michigan State’s men’s basketball team won its first outright Big Ten regular-season championship since 2020 with a 91-84 victory over Iowa on Thursday night. The Spartans secured the title after sharing it with Michigan earlier in the week.
The game saw a dramatic turnaround for Michigan State, who trailed by as many as 10 points at halftime but reeled off a 19-2 run to take the lead. They never trailed again, scoring 61 second-half points.
Jase Richardson led Michigan State with 22 points, while Jaxon Kohler and Jaden Akins contributed 15 each. Jeremy Fears Jr. added 14 points, and Tre Holloman scored 11.
Iowa’s Josh Dix led the team with 18 points, but the Hawkeyes struggled to overcome their lack of a clear scoring threat since Owen Freeman was injured in February. Despite a strong first half, Iowa could not keep up with Michigan State’s comeback.
