Volvo Unveils EX60 Electric Crossover with Modular Platform

Volvo has given us a first look at its upcoming electric crossover, the EX60, which is set to debut in 2026. The car will launch on the company’s new SPA3 platform, designed to reduce production costs and enable more efficient cars.

The EX60 will be a compact electric crossover that competes with the internal-combustion XC60. Volvo has revealed its design through a teaser video from its recent ES90 electric sedan launch, showcasing a nearly fully covered clay model with distinctive vertical taillights.

The SPA3 platform is modular, allowing for vehicles of different sizes to be built on the same platform. This feature will help reduce production costs and enable more flexible manufacturing processes.

While details are still scarce, Volvo expects the EX60 to match the dimensions of its gas-powered XC60 model while adopting styling cues from other EVs in its lineup. The car is likely to be priced higher than traditional models, starting around $60,000.

The SPA3 platform also features structural battery packs that will further reduce weight and cost. Volvo aims to bring more affordable and efficient electric vehicles to market with this new platform.
