Toyota has entered the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) market by launching its cheapest EV in China, the bZ3X. The new SUV starts at approximately $15,000 and has already generated over 10,000 orders in just one hour.
The bZ3X is Toyota’s first pure electric SUV to hit the Chinese market and is priced at around $15,000, or 109,800 yuan. It comes in two versions: with and without its full-scenario smart driving tech. The non-smart model starts at $15,000, while the smart driving model begins at $20,500.
The bZ3X features a range of up to 610 km (379 miles) on a single charge, depending on the trim level. It also boasts a spacious interior with comfortable seating and ample space for passengers and cargo. The vehicle’s infotainment system includes a large touchscreen display and advanced driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control.
The bZ3X is designed to work seamlessly with Toyota’s Momenta 5.0 Intelligent Driving System, which uses NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin X technology. This system provides 25 advanced safety features, including blind spot monitoring and high-speed pilot.
With a price point that undercutts BYD’s Yuan Plus (Atto 3) by $1,000, Toyota is making a bold move to capture a larger share of the Chinese EV market. The launch comes after successful blind pre-orders in December, which generated significant interest from consumers.
