The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a stunning comeback victory over the New York Knicks, thanks in large part to the heroics of superstar Luka Dončić and LeBron James. Down double digits with just minutes left to play, the Lakers staged an incredible rally behind the duo’s magic, forcing overtime and eventually securing an 113-109 win.
After trailing for much of the game, the Lakers took a lead for the first time since the second quarter, but Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson stole the show in the fourth quarter, tying the game with just 46 seconds remaining. However, it was Dončić who ultimately proved to be the difference-maker, scoring eight points in overtime and leading his team to their eighth straight victory.
The Slovenian sensation finished with 32 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds, and four steals, while James added 31 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. Despite the loss, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team’s effort, saying it was a “hard-fought game” that came down to the stretch.
The win improves the Lakers’ record to 40-21, while the Knicks fall to 40-22. The two teams will meet again soon, as the Lakers begin a four-game road trip in Boston on Saturday night and the Knicks host the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
