New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson is set to miss at least two weeks due to a severe right ankle sprain suffered in Thursday’s overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The injury occurred when Brunson rolled his ankle on a foul by Austin Reaves, and he remained in the game despite being in clear pain.
Brunson had scored all eight of the Knicks’ points in overtime before exiting with the injury. Despite the setback, the team still holds the No. 3 seed in the East at 40-22. However, without their star player, the Knicks will be eager to see Brunson return as soon as possible to avoid a prolonged absence.
Coach Tom Thibodeau did not provide an update on Brunson’s condition after the game, but his team is now facing the possibility of being without him for several games. The Knicks have only 20 games left before the start of the postseason and will be relying on other players to step up in Brunson’s absence.
