Mikko Rantanen Signed with Dallas Stars

NHL star Mikko Rantanen has signed an eight-year, $96 million contract with the Dallas Stars. The deal comes after he was traded from the Colorado Avalanche to the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this month. Rantanen had been eligible for free agency on July 1 but chose to sign with the Stars instead.

Rantanen played only 13 games for the Hurricanes before being acquired by the Stars in a trade-and-sign deal. The team’s general manager, Jim Nill, described Rantanen as “one of the most complete players in the League” and said his experience in the postseason will be an asset to the team’s Stanley Cup bid.

Rantanen is set to make his Stars debut on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers.
