Costco Misses Earnings Estimates Due to Supply Chain Costs

Costco Wholesale Corp., the US-based big-box retailer, reported a profit of $4.02 per share for its fiscal quarter that ended February 16. However, this figure fell short of Wall Street’s expectations, with analysts forecasting an average earnings per share (EPS) of $4.11.

The company attributed its disappointing results to increased supply chain costs, which weighed on its bottom line during the period. As a result, Costco’s shares plummeted by 7% mid-day on Friday following the release of its quarterly report. The company faces ongoing uncertainty due to tariffs and other macroeconomic factors that are affecting the retail industry.
