A World War II-era bomb was discovered near the tracks at Paris Gare du Nord, causing Eurostar trains to halt travel to London and northern France. The discovery prompted authorities to shut down traffic between Paris and La Plaine Stade France in both directions.
The bomb was found approximately 1.5 miles north of Gare du Nord, an area that hosted many Olympic events last year, including the closing ceremonies. Authorities have issued a statement, stating that the reason for the disruption is due to “intervention by law enforcement” following the discovery.
Eurostar trains are currently suspended until mid-afternoon, with passengers advised to postpone their trips. The investigation into the bomb’s size and clearance time is ongoing.
