Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Sam Darnold has signed a three-year, $100 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks. The deal includes $55 million in guaranteed money. Darnold joins his former teammate and passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak, who is now the Seahawks’ new offensive coordinator.
Darnold had a breakout season with the Minnesota Vikings last year, throwing for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He earned his first career Pro Bowl invite during the 2024 season. The Vikings finished 14-3 with Darnold as their starting quarterback, but lost in the wild card round to the Los Angeles Rams.
Darnold previously played one season with the 49ers in 2023, appearing in 10 games and starting the regular season finale against the Rams. He completes 60.9% of his passes for 297 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. This signing reunites Darnold with Kubiak, who worked with him during the 2023 campaign in San Francisco.
