Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has been arrested in Manila, Philippines, after being charged by the International Criminal Court (ICC) with crimes against humanity and extrajudicial killings during his war on drugs. The arrest comes amid allegations that thousands of people were killed outside of a court’s jurisdiction during his presidency. Duterte was taken into custody under a warrant issued by the ICC, which requested his extradition for trial.
