Falcons Release Grady Jarrett Amid Cost-Cutting Measures

The Atlanta Falcons have parted ways with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett in a surprise move, releasing the two-time Pro Bowler due to cost savings. The team will save $12,125,000 by letting Jarrett go, according to Roster Management System.

Jarrett’s release comes after the Falcons attempted to restructure his deal and extend his contract. However, ultimately, they decided to cut ties with him outright. The move is a significant one, as Jarrett was considered the heart of the team’s defense over much of the past decade.

The 31-year-old Jarrett, drafted by the Falcons in 2015, has been an integral part of the team’s defensive success. Despite suffering a torn ACL in 2023, he returned in 2024 and remained a solid player on the interior of the line.

With Jarrett’s release, the Falcons will look to fill several defensive holes in the offseason. The move also clears salary cap space, allowing Atlanta to become more aggressive in free agency and address their roster needs.
