Xbox Handheld: Release Date, Partner, Features & More

Microsoft is developing an Xbox-branded handheld console in partnership with an undisclosed PC gaming company, codenamed “Keenan.” The device will run Windows 11 and focus on Microsoft’s digital platforms like the Store and Game Pass. Expected to launch late 2025, likely during October’s holiday window, it may debut at Summer Games Fest (May/June 2024).

Hardware specs are projected to match rivals like the Asus ROG Ally X, featuring AMD processors, 16–32GB RAM, and potential OLED displays. Pricing is estimated around $500, though higher-tier models could cost more. Key features include Xbox Cloud Gaming and Play Anywhere integration, leveraging Windows tools like the Game Bar for performance monitoring.

Microsoft’s next home console is rumored for 2027, with a possible follow-up handheld alongside it. The current project prioritizes PC compatibility over traditional first-party development, marking an expansion of its “This Is Xbox” cross-device strategy.
