The Los Angeles Chargers have re-signed wide receiver Mike Williams on a one-year deal worth $6 million. This marks Williams’ return to the team, where he was initially drafted in 2017 as the seventh overall pick. The move comes after the Chargers released him last offseason to create cap space.
During his time with the Jets and Steelers, Williams played nine games in each stint, totaling 21 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown. His previous tenure with the Chargers spanned seven seasons, where he accumulated 309 receptions for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns.
With Williams’ return, the offense gains a much-needed perimeter receiver who excels at winning intermediate to deep passes, addressing a key need for the team’s passing game.
