Max Verstappen believes Red Bull are not the quickest team at the moment ahead of the 2025 Australian Grand Prix. Despite starting the 2024 season as dominant, they were overtaken by McLaren and Ferrari in the Teams’ Championship.
Verstappen expressed confidence that the picture can change quickly as the year progresses. The team found areas to work on during pre-season testing and will continue to do so. However, he acknowledged that it’s impossible to know if this season will see an even tighter battle than last year.
The reigning World Champion also addressed the RB21 car, saying there is natural improvement but still things to improve on. Verstappen highlighted that it’s a long season and many things can change rapidly. He hopes the team can make the new car competitive before focusing on the incoming regulations in 2026.
Verstappen was asked about what makes for a successful title defense, joking that there are “a lot of things” to consider. He emphasized the importance of trusting his team, working hard, and minimizing mistakes to score points.
