49ers Release FB Kyle Juszczyk, Sign DL Kevin Givens to Extension

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that they have released fullback Kyle Juszczyk, who was a key contributor to the team. However, two other players will stick with the 49ers for the foreseeable future.

Defensive lineman Kevin Givens has been re-signed to a one-year extension through the 2025 season. The move comes after an impressive performance by Givens in 2024, where he recorded 11 tackles and 3.5 sacks in eight games.

In addition, the 49ers have tendered a one-year contract to restricted free agent running back Jordan Mason. Mason has been with the team since 2022 and has shown significant improvement in his performance over the past two seasons.

Juszczyk, who was originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2013, played for the 49ers from 2017 to 2024 and earned multiple Pro Bowl selections. He is a native of Medina, Ohio, and attended Harvard University before joining the NFL.

Givens, also known as “Baby,” was an undrafted free agent when he joined the 49ers in 2019. He has since become a reliable contributor on defense and played for Penn State University.

Mason, who is just 25 years old, has been with the 49ers since 2022 and has made significant strides in his performance. A native of Gallatin, Tennessee, Mason attended Georgia Tech before joining the NFL.

The moves reflect the 49ers’ efforts to build a strong roster for the future. While Juszczyk’s release is a significant loss, Givens and Mason will provide valuable depth and experience to the team.
